Welcome to Outside Education

Who are we?

Outside Education Group is a non-profit education provider with a difference. We deliver fun outside-the-box learning experiences, with many sessions taking place outdoors in Heaton Park through our partnership with Incredible Edible Heaton Park.

We provide resources and support for children outside the UK school system, whether home educated by choice or because other schools have been unable to meet their needs.

We run inclusive educational clubs and classes throughout the week. This is child-centred learning delivered by qualified staff with SEND experience.

We are Ofsted registered and work with schools, local authorities and other educators to enrich their curricula and support for children with neuro-diversities and disabilities.

Community Hub

The Outside Education Community Hub and Training Centre on Windsor Road in Prestwich opened its doors in September 2020.

The large training room (7m x 3m) and smaller meeting room (3m x 2.5m) can be hired by community groups and businesses. Both rooms have sensory, colour-changing lighting and provide a comfortable environment for therapy as well as training and clubs.

Horticulture Programme for Schools and Alternative Provision

Outside Education’s AP team are based at the Incredible Edible Heaton Park community garden and orchard, with some sessions taking place at the Hub. The small group size allows each child to progress at their own level and to explore their potential.

A connection with nature is incredibly important. Working with plants and the soil is a very sensory experience and is great for mental health and wellbeing. The students learn about horticulture, conservation and the environment, have fun with eco-crafts and explore science is an entirely new way.

The AP team’s horticulture programme for schools is tailored for each school and includes assisting the students and their support staff with designing and creating a nature space in their own school or community. Contact us for details.
